Tomi's Fans Round the Globe Celebrate World Book Day!
Happy World Book Day! Today, April 23rd, was chosen by UNESCO as a day to celebrate the power of reading to empower and educate people all over the world. With so many of Tomi's books being about overcoming prejudice and upholding freedoms, we thought it'd be the perfect time to give a shout out to all of his supporters and readers worldwide, including bookshops, libraries, fans, school groups and more.
Here are all of the wonderful photos that you sent us to help celebrate World Book Day! Click on the thumbnails to view the images, and make sure to scroll to the end of the page to see them all.
Bookshops round the world. Tomi's books have been translated into dozens of languages and are sold all over the world. There are passionate booksellers everywhere from Ireland to Guatemala introducing new generations to his books. Here are some photos shared with us from some of the best bookshops worldwide. Remember you can find a list of Tomi's stockists by country here.
Costumes and classrooms! We invited school classes, reading groups, libraries and parents to share artwork and activities inspired by Tomi's books. Here are some of the fantastically imaginative projects they sent us, from puppet shows to costumes.
Bookshops Displays for the launch of Ni Oui, Ni Non. Tomi's latest children's book is a collection of answers to philosophical questions posed by children, Ni Oui, Ni Non. Tomi's French language publisher L'École des loisirs organised a bookshop window display competition to celebrate. Here are all of the fabulous displays! And special congratulations to the winner, Chantelivre in Orléans.
And finally, a special section of furry and feathery fans. We received some interesting photos from fans with beaks and four legs. With so many of Tomi's children's books aimed at rehabilitating unloved animals like vultures and snakes, we're glad that readers of all species seem to enjoy his books. We're just not sure how they operated the camera...
