Galerie Vallois presents Tomi Ungerer at Art Basel 2023

This year, for the first time ever, we are very excited to share the news that the Galerie Vallois is hosting an exhibition of Tomi's work at Art Basel. This is also the first time, as far as we are aware, that an artist primarily considered an illustrator, is exhibiting work at the main fair.

The exhibition is titled The Joy of Sex and is comprised of a series of drawings, collages and small objects made by Tomi between the early 1960s and 2010s.  As Agate Bortolussi from the Galerie Vallois writes, " The Joy of Sex, the selection presented here, evokes all the fantasy of Tomiʼs erotic art: imagination without limit, creation without fear or constraint, whimsical desire, unexpected whim. Far from any banality, eroticism is found in funny and eccentric unexpectedness. A total freedom which combines beauty, pleasure, and joy: Sex & Fantasy."

**Please note:  Obviously this exhibition is not suitable for a young audience and although we would love as many of Tomi's fans to visit the show this week as possible, it is for an over 18's audience only.
