"Tomi Ungerer - Posters and Drawings" Exhibition taking place at the Reykjavik Art Museum as part of the Reykjavik Arts Festival 2011.21st May - 24th July 2011.LectureHafnarhús - Mondy 23 May 5 pmThérèse Willer, director at the Tomi Ungerer Museum - International Center of Illustration in Strasbourg, will give a lecture on the French illustrator Tomi Ungerer and his works. The event is hosted by Reykjavik Art Museum and organized by Alliance Française and the French Embassy in Iceland.Tomi Ungerer, an award winning illustrator and author, has published over 140 books ranging from children’s books to his controversial adult work. Known for his sharp social satire and witty aphorisms, he ranges from the fantastic to the autobiographical. Ungerer’s work forms an important commentary on the social and political changes that have occurred since the second half of the 20th century. His career has also encompassed architectural design, invention, advertising and sculpture.The lecture will take place in French with an Icelandic translator and is open to everyone.
